PREMIERSHIP giants Arsenal and local heroes Plymouth Argyle are coming to Okehampton this summer to host football camps for young players. It will be a chance for youngsters to develop their skills, play games and have fun, with prizes and certificates, all organised by the club?s respective football in the community programmes. The Plymouth Argyle Football camp takes place on Monday, July 25 and Tuesday, July 26. It is open to those aged 7 to 14 and costs £22 per player. Places can be booked through OCRA on 01837 54546. The Gunners are holding a three-day football camp on Tuesday, August 30, Wednesday, August 31 and Thursday, September 1. The ages catered for at the camp are 5 to 15 years. The cost is £40 per player. Places can be booked through John Hodge on 07743 813882. For those who prefer athletics to football, next week OCRA are also hosting the Star:track athletics scheme. Star:track is an excellent introduction to athletics events for young people aged 8 to 15. The Norwich Union-sponsored scheme aims to bring together all forms of athletics and helps youngsters learn correct techniques with the aid of specialist coaches. Star:track takes place next Wednesday (July 27) and Thursday (July 28). The activity has previously proved to be very popular, so contact OCRA to book a place for your child. The cost is £16 for both days or £9 for one.
