WEIR Quay Sailing Club held the sixth of their frostbite series of dinghy races last Saturday in light winds over a triangular course on the River Tamar.

A fleet of six dinghies started the race with Andy Houghton?s Mirror gaining an early lead to the first mark, chased by the rest of the pack. A long downwind run towards Cargreen saw keen competition with all of the boats vying for position, but the larger sails of Richard Gould?s Enterprise took advantage of the light breezes and moved into the lead.

Rounding the windward mark a close chase ensued with Steve Kirby?s Gull challenging the lead. Dying winds and fading light forced an early end.

Results (after allowing for handicap): 1, Gull, Steve Kirby; 2, Mirror, Andy Houghton; 3, Enterprise, Richard Gould; 4, Topper, Thomas Brooks; 5, Mirror, Allan Seward; Retired, Mirror, Ian Brooks.

Next race, 10am Sunday November 30.
