TAVISTOCK Guide Christmas post is about to get underway for the 18th year. Members of Girlguiding Tavistock have organised a delivery of Christmas cards for people in the local area since 1988 and last year more than 7,600 cards passed through the guide post box. The cards are delivered for the price of a special blue 15 pence stamp, and these are now available from guides members. From Monday, November 28 they will also be on sale at Lake Pharmacy in West Street, Superdrug in Duke Street, Tavistock Launderette near the pannier market, Stannary Surgery and the Charity Card shop in the United Reformed Church in Russell Street. Special blue post boxes will be located at these outlets, in all Guide meeting halls and at Ford Street Spar shop from Monday. Last posting will be 5pm on Friday December 16. The cards will be sorted and delivered over the weekend of December 17/18. The delivery area includes all roads within the town of Tavistock and the village of Whitchurch, but not the surrounding villages. Customers should ensure envelopes are correctly and clearly addressed ? guides always promise to do their best, but delivering cards without addresses or to numbers that don?t exist can be a problem! l Guides in the Bere peninsula will similarly be delivering Christmas post. Post boxes can be found at the Pharmacy and other shops in Bere Alston and at The Lanterna in Bere Ferrers.
