A FUNDRAISING competition to help deliver a pilot scheme of care and support in rural communities visited Okehampton last week. Waitrose car park in Okehampton played host to the Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF) and their Renault Clio, donated by Bristol Street Motors of Exeter, filled with plastic balls. People were given the chance to enter the competition and guess how many balls were in the car with the first prize being the car. ELF is a charity that supports the work of the Haematology Department at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. Now celebrating its twentieth year of operating, ELF is providing the funding for a pilot scheme to take patient treatment into different communities to help patients who suffer from leukaemia and related blood diseases. Coupled with this, they have other demands made on their resources and have to raise a minimum of £425,000 each year. Further information about ELF is available on their website http://www.exeterleukaemiafund.org.uk">www.exeterleukaemiafund.org.uk The winner of the Renault Clio will be announced at ELF's 21st birthday part on October 17 2008.
