CHRISTMAS trees are not generally the uppermost thought in people's mind in mid-summer, but the Friends of St Eustachius' are giving them much consideration right now.

The first Christmas tree festival was held in Tavistock Parish Church in December 2009.

It was planned as a 'one-off' but proved such an outstanding success that the festival will be repeated this year. It will run over a longer period, with a grand opening at 2.30pm on Friday November 26 and will end with a festival evensong on Sunday December 5.

The number of trees will also increase to around 50 with each decorated to reflect the spirit of local schools, organisations, businesses and charities. Profits from the festival will be used by the Friends to help to maintain this church.

Many of last year's exhibitors have already booked a tree for 2010 but there are a few still available. Anyone interested should contact Pat Morrison for further details — telephone 01822 613614 or email [email protected]">[email protected]
