YOUNGSTERS at Hatherleigh Primary have been learning about growing their own food, thanks to a donation from Waitrose.

Four schools across the Okehampton area are to benefit from the donation of grow and sell seed kits, with the aim of showing children the journey their food takes from field to plate.

The kits have been designed to get school vegetable patches up and running, and include seeds, equipment and step-by-step growing instructions. Pupils will be encouraged to sell their own produce to Waitrose customers to raise funds for their schools, or to eat healthily using their own grown produce in school dining rooms.
