Tamar League

Bridestowe v Lewdown

BRIDESTOWE took to the field knowing a handsome win would secure the league title.

Batting was difficult to begin with and only 15 runs were scored in the first six overs. Lewdown bowler Mark Jordan's opening spell of 0-20 in 5 overs showed the determination of the young side.

Bridestowe's Phil Hatton scored 109 before being bowled — he was well supported by Mark Fogerty (14) and Stewart Down (21).

The run chase at the end of the innings produced two wickets for Lewdown and 45 runs for Bridestowe, Chris Lavis scoring 32.

Bridestowe scored 219 for 5. T Smith (2 for 43) and R Squires (3 for 64) were Lewdown's wicket takers.

After tea, Neil Griffiths took centre stage by virtue of 5 wickets for 27 runs in 9 overs. Only Jordan (24) and T Smith (22) showed any resistance. It was left to Gary Sizmur on 2 for 9 and Phil Down on 3-6 to take the remaining wickets.

Lewdown were all out for 86 runs in the 29th over.
