COMMUNITIES across Devon are much in the forefront of activity to help protect the natural environment and keep Devon as England's greenest county. With the launch of 'Greener Communities' there is a locally developed toolkit full of advice and information to help more communities develop an action plan of their own.
Funded by the Dartmoor National Park Authority's Sustainable Development Fund and Devon County Council, the toolkit was developed by the Community Council of Devon working with the funding partners, DARE (Devon Association for Renewable Energy) and the Dartmoor Circle (a social enterprise dedicated to reducing carbon emissions, and improving people's lives).
The toolkit is designed so that it can be used as part of a wider 'community led planning' activity, such as creating a parish plan, or as a separate and unique community initiative.
Dartmoor Communities also have the chance to apply for up to £500 support from the DNPA towards the costs of undertaking a climate change action plan or other community led plan.
Download the entire Toolkit from the Community Council of Devon website http://www.devonrcc.org.uk">www.devonrcc.org.uk or obtain one of the limited number of printed versions by contacting Greg Davies at the council on 01392 382832.
