a Kelly College student received plenty of support when she set out on Monday on a strenuous event to raise money for the Help for Heroes charity.
Ginny Butcher, 13, who is wheelchair-bound, is pushing her way through a 13-mile course around Burrator Reservoir and intends to complete the task tomorrow (Friday).
The plucky teenager, who breathes through a tracheostomy, aimed to raise around £500 for the charity — but her inspiring idea took off with friends and family and she has been thrilled to have already raised more than £3,000 in donations.
Ginny is tackling a lap of the reservoir a day — around 3.8 miles. On Monday she was accompanied on the first lap by her mother, Sally, aunt Julia Dean, Kelly College headmaster Dr Graham Hawley and headmaster's secretary Vanessa Bowles. Further laps were completed on Tuesday and Wednesday with the remainder being tackled on Friday.
