WEST Devon-based children?s charity CHICKS (Country Holidays for Inner City Kids) is offering the chance for two lucky fans to travel up to Manchester, stay overnight in a hotel and visit the set and meet the stars of Channel 4 sensation Shameless! The prize will be up for auction at CHICKS black-tie fundraising event ?Moonstones and Magic at the Treasury? taking place on Friday November 16 at the Treasury bar in Plymouth. Also up for auction on the night will be a set of autographed DVDs from international superstar and CHICKS patron Kate Winslet. Event organiser Nicola Bean said: ?Moonstones and Magic will be a very special night with some great prizes up for auction. We are hoping to raise £15,000 from the event to help CHICKS provide more free respite breaks for disadvantaged children from across the UK.? Ticket price includes a champagne reception, live swing music, up close magic, a chance to try your luck at the charity casino, and spectacular Oyster and Seafood Bar alongside the luxury hot buffet. There will also be a Vodka Ice Luge and special CHICKS cocktail available on the night and all guests will leave with a goody bag. CHICKS provides free respite breaks to disadvantaged children from across the UK. Some of them have suffered neglect or poverty, many have experienced mental, physical or sexual abuse and others are young carers, bearing the extraordinary responsibility of caring for disabled or terminally ill relatives. What these children share is the need for a break away from their difficult home lives and to be given the chance to be children again.
