A WEST Devon pre-school is celebrating after recently receiving a glowing report by an education inspector. Staff and committee members of Mary Tavy and Brentor Under 5s are 'delighted' with the Ofsted inspector's findings, giving the pre-school a 'good' evaluation across all learning outcomes. Anne Legge of Ofsted said: 'Children behave well as they respond to the staff's positive and consistent strategies for management behaviour. They understand the clear routines of the group and respond to the constant praise and encouragement they receive. 'Children are well cared for by well qualified staff who are committed to the ongoing development of their skills by attending relevant training. 'The manager is currently working towards Early Years Professional Status and she is committed to achieving the highest standards for the children.' Commenting on the parents and carers, Ms Legge said: 'A lovely friendly group of parents who make newcomers extremely welcome. 'I have seen many playgroups — this group by far has jumped out for me. 'The staff are so switched on to what the children need with regard to stimulation, the community is very lucky. It's a great social networking place. 'The staff are very supportive and caring.' Allison Hatcher, play leader of the pre-school, said it was now onwards and upwards for the under 5s. She said: 'This achievement is a result of our dedicated and highly qualified team who ensure that children receive excellent individual attention at all sessions in an attractive and spacious environment. 'We have strong leadership and commitment to support our children as they learn in a warm, caring and friendly setting.' The pre-school is based in the Coronation Hall in Mary Tavy. During term time it offers full day care on Mondays and Fridays and Wednesday mornings for two to five-year olds, together with a playgroup on Monday and Wednesday mornings.
