KELLY College took 39 swimmers to the Bath Grand Prix at Bath University over the weekend of November 19 and 20.

The swimmers ranged in age from ten to 18 years old and with great determination and some excellent swims secured the top visiting club award, plus 179 personal best times; 12 new Kelly College age group records; ten gold medals; 12 silver medals and eleven bronze medals.

Kelly College age group record breakers were: 10 year old boys, Thomas Brew – 200m breaststroke and 400m IM; 11 year old boys, Nathan Linden – 100m & 200m fly; 12 year old boys, Robbie Nielsen – 50m and 100m Free; Benjamin Staig – 50m and 100m Fly; 12 year old girls, Christy Gold – 50m breaststroke; 14 year old girls, Leah Picillo – 200m IM; 15 year old girls, Erin Walsh – 50m back; 17 year old girls, Lucy Sanderson – 50m fly.

Gold medal winners: Robbie Nielsen, Christy Gold and Lucy Sanderson.

Silver medal winners: Thomas Brew, Matthew Courtis, Cara Layden, Millie Murdoch, Robbie Nielsen, Leah Picillo, Ben Staig and Erin Walsh.

Bronze medal winners: Charlie Bayliss, Thomas Brew, Matthew Courtis, Sophie Hastings, Cara Layden, Katherine Larcombe, Millie Murdoch, Leah Picillo, Lucy Sanderson, Brittaney O'Reilly and Ben Staig.

Robbie Nielsen (12) took five gold medals in the 50m, 100m, 200m and 400m freestyle and the 100m backstroke. Robbie also broke two Kelly College age group records. One of the records, the 100m freestyle had stood since 2002. The other was for the 50m free (28.36) which Robbie already held.

Christy Gold made a clean sweep of the breaststroke events, winning the girls 11-12 years 50m, 100m and 200m. Christy also broke a long standing record from 2003 in the 50m breaststroke (girls 12 year olds) with a time of 37.64.

Lucy Sanderson was the third gold medal winner taking the 100m and 200m fly events in the Girls' 17 and over group. Lucy also broke the 50m fly Kelly College age group record with a 29.46.
