IT was quite a day last month at Mary Tavy Coronation Hall and Recreation Ground when the village’s Jubilee Group held a new event, introducing local residents to more than 40 different groups, clubs, charities, businesses and other organisations.

The ‘Your Community Matters’ day offered a wide range of activities for free to try — from open air Pilates, Bollywood dancing, willow weaving or a delve into the Devon and Cornwall Police archives were all available to ‘have a go’.

Among the organisations present were The Tavonian Theatre Group, Dartmoor National Park, the Devon Wildlife Trust, sports’ teams and youth groups.
