CENTRAL Devon MP Mel Stride has urged stroke victims to apply for grants and praised the Royal Mail for its fundraising efforts.
In 2014, the Stroke Association was voted Royal Mail’s 2014-2016 charity partner by postmen and women from across the UK. Their aim is to raise £2-million to help 10,000 stroke survivors with life after stroke grants.
To date, postmen and women have raised over £400,000, which has been matched by Royal Mail, meaning more than £800,000 has been donated so far.
Mr Stride said: ‘Overcoming the impact of a stroke can be extremely difficult for the survivor and their family. Having the Stroke Association as Royal Mail’s charity partner for 2014-2016 is an excellent choice and I urge stroke survivors in my constituency to visit www.stroke.org.uk/grants or call 0303 3033 100 to find out if they are eligible for a grant.’
