CHRISTMAS came early for young people in Callington in the form of a £7,000 grant from the Cornwall Community Foundation's Local Network Fund. The grant has been made to Callington Youth Action Group to fund computer, sound and filming equipment, which will in turn be used to help secure better facilities and services for young people in the town. Stacey Tozer, chair of Callington Youth Action Group, said: 'Receiving the grant was a fantastic Christmas present. 'The new equipment will make a big difference to our work, and we're absolutely delighted to have it.' Andrew Middleton, chief executive of the Cornwall Community Foundation, said: 'We're very pleased to be able to support the young people of Callington in making their town a better place to live.' Callington Youth Action Group will be screening 'Callington Could Be Cool', a film of young people's aspirations for the future of the town at 7.30pm on January 31 at their annual meeting at Callington Town Hall. The meeting and film are open to all young people living in the area. Callington Youth Action Group is supported in partnership by Caradon District Council, Cornwall Rural Community Council, Cornwall Youth Service and Callington Town Council. Cornwall Community Foundation is an independent community charity that helps tackle local problems and local needs using local funds and local expertise. Their Local Network Fund has distributed 52 grants, totalling £271,000, in South East Cornwall over the last four years.
