THE new Millennium lychgate could soon be completed at Horrabridge burial ground, if the scheme gets financial backing from Dartmoor National Park

The authority is due to meet next Friday, January 9, when the director of planning and community will recommend that £2,000 should be granted towards the cost of finishing the gate roof. It would enable natural slates in diminishing courses to be used on the roof of the gate, which will improve the finished appearance.

Graham Wall, of Dartmoor National Park Authority, said a decision to grant money to the project had been shelved last month, because some members had concerns about the design of the gate. The project is being undertaken by Horrabridge Parish Council.
