THE Table Tennis Club run by Tavistock Area Support Services for those over 55 has received support from Sport Relief. TASS, based at The Anchorage Centre, received a grant to purchase equipment in order to play league table tennis. The club, which started more than 12 months ago, meets three days a week, and has more than 30 members attend each week. Lorraine Robinson, who oversees the sessions, said: 'Table tennis is a wonderful activity for people to take part in. 'The grant from Sports Relief will mean that in the autumn we will be able to compete against other clubs in the local league.' The Devon Community Foundation, which administers the grant, said it was thrilled to support a 'thriving activity' in achieving its goal of playing competitive table tennis — as well as providing a table for the Bere Ferrers outreach centre, so they can continue to enjoy the sport.
