CYCLISTS of all ages and abilities are invited to bring along their bikes, and helmets, to a range of events at Duchy College in Stoke Climsland, near Callington, on Sunday, January 14. Prepare to get a little muddy! South West Cyclo-Cross, who are organising the Come Cycling at Duchy College event, said there are rides to suit all members of the family and mountain bikes are ideal for the off-road cycling. The Duchy College playing fields will provide a fast, interesting circuit for all participants without any big hills and organisers say that multiple laps are completed on a short course so spectator viewing is excellent. At 10.15am the under8s, u10s and the u12s ride, lasting 15 minutes, on a special shortened track suitable for all abilities. Entry is free. At 11am there is a 30 minute ride for u14s to u16s and ladies. There is also an open ride for everyone to have a go. Everyone is welcome and entry is £5. Finally at 12.15pm the best riders from the South West will race for an hour to gain points for the South West championship. This will be the final race in this season's series, with the overall trophies awarded after the race. The event is a South West Cyclo-cross League promotion and sanctioned by the British Cycling Federation. The league is run by volunteers to promote safe off-road cycling for everybody to enjoy.
