THE annual church garden fete at Lydford on Saturday was a great success, raising just over £1,000.
The money was raised in aid of the church fabric fund, which pays for the maintenance and upkeep of old church buildings.
St Petroc's Church in Lydford will benefit from the profit made at the fete.
The fete was held at Lydford House Hotel, by permission of Mr and Mrs Searle. Proceedings were formally opened by West Devon and Torridge MP John Burnett, who was accompanied by his wife, Billie.
The pleasing sound of Tavistock Stannary Band could be heard at the event which is one of the social happenings of the year in Lydford.
Organisers were very pleased with the turn-out, saying they had been fortunate it did not rain on the day.
