HURDWICK Golf Club held their annual turkey trot stableford on Saturday.
There was a good turnout and the course looked beautiful in the winter sunshine. However, the conditions proved difficult, with a cold blustery wind and hard, frozen ground, which made chipping onto the greens and putting a real problem.
The outcome was a generally low scoring competition but there were notable exceptions. Adam Bridgewater, playing off a handicap of just one, scored an excellent 38 points to win division one. He was followed by Arthur Wilson in second place with 34 points and Maurice Babb in third position with 31 points.
Ray Hurle won division two with 37 points, followed by Neil Tamblin in second place with an excellent 36 points followed by Shirley Portis with 29 points and Ann Martyn with 26.
There were no 'twos' so the ball sweep was decided by a draw with five lucky winners. The competition was followed by the Christmas draw.
