Tavistock Hire Centre 2

Windmill FC 2

TAVISTOCK Hire Centre faced top of the table Windmill FC on a blustery day at Walkhampton.

Tavistock were soon on the back foot but the defence stayed strong until 10mins before half time when the Windmill winger cut in from the left and smashed the ball into the top corner of the net. Tempers started to flare and both sides received cautions for late tackles which also resulted in Phil Credicott being stretchered off with a broken leg.

Tavistock scored a deserved equaliser just before half time when Dave Wilkinson turned his marker 30yards out a made a slide through pass for Rob Allen to round the keeper and tap into an empty net.

The second half started well for the Hire team who kept the pressure on the Windmill defence and they paid for some sloppy defending when Dan Behanna was taken down by the last man which resulted in a red card. From the free kick Sam Saunders curled the ball towards the top corner only to see the ball rebound off the bar.

Windmill took the lead from a free kick just outside the box. Dan Behanna was then sent off for a second yellow card.

With only minutes to go defender Rob Moloney was pushed up front and this paid off when with 60 seconds remaining he flicked on a long ball to Will Pike who poked home from six yards. The club would also like to wish Phil Credicott all the best in his recovery.
