RAY Retter and Steve Sage of North Devon Wheelers Cycle Club both participated in Exeter Wheelers 17-mile sporting time trial on Sunday.

The hilly course which climbs over Woodbury Common is not a favorite of either rider but both achieved good results.

Steve completed the course in a new personal best time of 39min 53sec which was good enough for fourth place overall in the tightly contested race. Ray was a little behind his time of last year but his efforts were enough to reward him with a time of 41min 08sec, fast enough for him to win the prize for the fastest veteran over 50.

With a couple of weeks before their next events both riders will be hoping some long training rides over Easter will bring even better results in forthcoming races.
