TAVISTOCK Swimming Club made a promising start at the first three sessions of the City of Plymouth Annual Swim Meet at the weekend. Young swimmers from the club taking part for the first time were Abigail Best, Matt Edwards and Lily Edwards. In session one, Laura Radgick and Kirsty Best both qualified for the women?s 100m freestyle final, when Radgick came first, retaining The Lyons Maid Cup for a second year with Best runner-up. In the second session, Ross Williams came first in the men?s 100m butterfly final while in the women?s 100m final Kirsty Best also won. The third session saw the final of the men?s 100m breaststroke when Chris Ralph came second, Michael Best third and Tom Waddington fifth. In the women?s 100m butterfly final Catriona Smith was fourth. Other swimmers taking part were Rebecca Tansey, Kirsty Smith and Amy Warnett. The club swimmers brought home 19 gold, eight silver and two bronze medals and they are looking forward to the end of the Meet at the end of the month.
