EVEN after all the monsoon weather Okehampton Golf Club was open on Saturday morning for the Four Ball Better Ball Stableford and a good entry ensued and the scoring was good. Adam Cook and Jim Butcher won the first division on countback with 45points, second were Mark Wonnacott and Keith Harkness; third with 44 were Graham Moysey and Malcolm Hooper while fourth were Neil Penfold and John Flavin with 43. Division two was also decided on the back nine with Nick Hobbs and Dave Turner just edging out Paul Ayris and Kerry Skinner — both teams having 45 points. Third with 44 were Mary Keir and Russel Metherell and fourth Adrian Rice and Jim Dunlop who had 44. The ladies played a non qualifying Stableford on Wednesday in lovely conditions. Lin Atkinson and Cherry James had a shaky front nine scoring 13 and 12 points respectively but both found their form on the back nine and Lin had a wonderful 21 giving her first place in the silver division with 34. Cherry finished with a total of 32 to gaining second place. The bronze division was won by Mary Keir with 31 while Jane Warren who had 29 was second.
