TAVISTOCK pair Graham and James Ruth are proving a formidable partnership after winning the SkySports European Father and Son Golf Championship this month.
Dad Graham gave his son a big hug on the 18th green at the Lumine Golf Resort in Spain's Costa Dorada, after they edged out golf professional dad David Mills and son George from Sussex by four points.
Graham told the Times: 'We are both delighted, we had a fantastic week in a superb hotel, playing two very good golf courses while playing with some great father and sons.
'This is a must for any father and son golfers, it is truly a wonderful tournament which is organised by a talented team lead by Toby Marsden the tournament director.'
The West Devon pair, both members of Tavistock Golf Club, qualified into the event by winning the British title this summer at Belton Woods.
The dynamic father and son duo were always strong favourites to take the handicap title. James, the professional with St Mellion, is a former European Tour Player and dad Graham a one handicap and former three time Devon county champion.
The event is held over three days as a 54 hole two ball better ball Stableford with a scratch and handicap title. The 'Ruths' made event history by being the first team to win both titles to become 'undisputed' champions.
The Ruths now qualify for the Father and Son championships in the USA to be played in South Carolina in July, 2013.
The final days highlights were aired on SkySports 4HD on Tuesday.
