THE 2010 Bottle Trot was played at Tavistock Golf Club.  Bad weather had prevented the competition being played in December so the winners had belated Christmas wine!

In all three divisions scoring was close but first in division one was David Young with 37 points, second with 35pts was Sam Jessop on countback from George Gawman.

Bob Small topped division two with 39pts with Alan Pope in second place with 34pts. In third place was Peter Stankevitch with 33pts on countback from Shaun Dixon, Lester France and Brian Manhire. Division three was Andy Down with 31pts on countback from Derek Bettany; third was Will Inman with 30pts on countback from Stuart Cox and Richard Burrows.

The annual ladies competition Secretary v Handicap Secretary match attracted a large field despite strong, cold winds.  The result was a resounding victory for the Competition Secretary's team by 9.5 to 3.5 games.

n  At the annual Captain's Cocktail Party, club captain Shaun Kiely, presented a cheque for £3,000 to the Archie Barton Meningitis Trust.  Throughout his year Shaun had raised more than £8,000 and has given donations to St. Lukes Hospice and CHICKS but, he admitted, the trust was very special to him.

Despite of his awful disabilities, Archie, aged 5, is a truly remarkable and charming little boy whose determination and lust for life has helped him to achieve so very much in his short life.

His aunt, Belinda England, received the cheque on behalf of the family and thanked the club for their generous and valued contribution to Archie's fund.
