TWO local charities received generous cheques recently from Tavistock Rotary Club following a successful fundraising event.

The club held a charity golf day at Tavistock Golf Club which raised almost £3,000 to benefit Devon Young Carers and Tavistock Area Support Services (TASS).

Tony Parker, organiser of the golf day, said: 'I'm always amazed by the generosity of the people and businesses of Tavistock.

'The £3,000 was a wonderful amount to have raised in a single day, especially when it helps organisations like Young Carers and TASS that do so much good for local people.

'Thank you to our sponsors, Tavistock Golf Club and our wonderful team at the Tavistock Rotary Club.'
