A LOVELY time was had by all when friends and family gathered to celebrate the golden wedding anniversary of Okehampton couple, Norma and Patrick Hynes, at Okehampton Golf Club.

Norma and Patrick enjoyed a great evening and at the same time raised £600 for local charity, West Devon Citizens Advice Bureau, of which Norma has been a trustee for more than a decade.

Barbara Osborne, bureau manager said: 'Having been a nurse and a health visitor in this local area, Norma is very much aware of the needs of the local community and as such brings great skills and knowledge to the CAB.

She said West Devon CAB were grateful that the couple generously decided to give donations in lieu of gifts to the charity as well as providing a fun evening.

CAB development officer Mandy Kenyon said: 'Many people presume the Citizens Advice Bureau is a government agency when in truth we are a charity which is constantly having to source funds and grants to keep our advice services open to the local community. We will use the money raised to continue providing the best advice service possible to West Devon residents.

West Devon CAB has bureaux in Okehampton and Tavistock and thanks to the Big Lottery Fund, is also able to offer a home visiting service and regular outreach sessions at Bere Alston and Princetown as well as Hatherleigh Market.
