SO, we are about to be subjected to yet another mini-roundabout in Tavistock at the bottom of Spring Hill. Has there been any public discussion or even advance publicity where local residents can put their point of view, or is this another dictat from the Highways Department? As a driver of a community bus I can confirm that it is impossible to make the left turn into Spring Hill without taking a wide swing to the right first. Larger vans, trucks and articulated vehicles will end up going the wrong way round a mini-roundabout situated there. What is wrong with the present system, it has worked well for many years? The whole town is surrounded by these obstacles which are either ignored as they are mis-sited (watch the left and right-turning traffic at the junction of Drake Road and West Street), or causing, in conjunction with the ?courtesy? crossing places, unnecessary tailbacks. Perhaps we should go the whole hog like Milton Keynes and have a roundabout on every junction! If we make driving in Tavistock totally intolerable, no one will come and the parking problem will be solved at a stroke! Chris Dicker 14 Watts Road Tavistock
