PLANNERS have given permission for the change of use of a domestic garage to a motorcycle repair business at a property in Mill Hill, Tavistock, against officers' recommendations.
West Devon Borough Council's planning officers felt the proposed use of the site would have a detrimental impact on the amenities of nearby residents by way of noise and traffic movements to and from the site, but the application was given a five-year temporary approval by the planning committee last week.
There were also restrictions on when the business could operate — from 8am to 6pm Monday to Saturday and 8am to 4pm on Sundays.
The committee was told that the site was for the repair of classic motorcycles and the services offered would include restoration, engine and gearbox rebuilding and the sale of bikes and second hand parts.
The application was made by Mr Montgomery and Ms Jones for 8 Mill Hill, Tavistock.
