Carlsberg South Western League Tavistock 2 St Austell 6 JUST when it was felt that the Lambs had turned a corner it appears they have gone back the same way from whence they came. All the drama in midweek of finding a replacement keeper for the injured Andy Meeds resolved itself after Bere Alston?s match was called off and Craig Howells was able to take his place instead of the original keeper Steve Williams who unfortunately got himself injured on Friday night. The Lambs were in confident mood prior to the game after last week?s performance against Plymouth Parkway but they were rocked back on their heels after just three minutes as Nathan Perrott latched on to a through ball to slot home. For the remainder of the first half it was all Lambs but they failed to take their chances with Darren Edwards volleying over from a Mark Conday cross then heading straight at the keeper. Will Westlake had a great chance after 25 minutes when he raced clear to see his first attempt blocked by keeper Gary Penhaligan. The ball fell again kindly for him but with an open goal missed the target. But with six minutes of the half remaining they were back on level terms as Conday was pulled down in the area for him to get up and score from the spot. There was a belief that the Lambs would give their opponents a run for their money in the second half but it all went horribly wrong. Howells had to save from Jay Isbell in the first minute of the restart, Edwards had another chance after Craig Hodge headed back across goal from a Duncan Duthie free kick before the Lillywhites went ahead just prior to the hour. Sean Cann got caught in possession coming out of defence and the visitors attacked, strong appeals for handball were waived away for a corner and from it Cann was penalised for shirt pulling and Tom Sundercombe put them ahead from the spot. In three minutes with a quarter of an hour left it was all over for the Lambs as first Perrrott lashed one into the top corner, Cann was robbed again and despite Howells saving in a one on one with sub Rob Day he could not prevent him following up to slot home. With 10 minutes left the Lambs gave themselves a glimmer of hope when they pulled one back to make it 2-4. James Steer?s corner was headed on by Pete Southcott for sub Matt Bolton to get the final touch. A glimmer was all it was going to be with St Austell kicking off and going down to the other end for Day to fire home. With five minutes left the visitors completed the scoring as Perrrott raced down the flank to send in a low cross for Andy Baker to rifle home to complete a very miserable day for the Lambs.
