FURTHER to your front page article (March 23), can it really have been forgotten that Dolvin Road residents were to be offered parking at either the ATS site, Parkwood Road or at the Abbey Garage site in Whitchurch Road?
I refer to your article September 22 1994 where it was reported that West Devon officers intended to develop the site as a 36-space public car park with lighting and security for which we would either have permits or reserved spaces; this was supported by a letter from Mr Inman, community services officer, to residents, dated November 2. Funding was to be provided partly by the sale of two of the adjacent cottages.
The ATS site is no longer available, the adjacent cottages have been sold; no viable alternative parking has been offered to us so surely there can by no debate as to the future use of the Abbey Garage site.
To quote Mr Inman back in 1994: 'The council must honour its commitment to provide parking for the residents who were dependent on the highway for parking'.
