THIS was the girls? first match and last year?s league winners took a while to get going.

Individual play was faultless but Tavistock knew that team play was needed to beat a strong Looe defence and excellent keeper. Rose worked hard and after numerous near misses was at last awarded a goal.

The defence of Hammond, Shaw and Eales was good but they were caught napping early in the game and Foster pulled off a superb one handed save. Bassett with tight marking kept the lone striker at bay and Gale and Glasspoole on the wings were deadly with great runs.

The second half saw Shaw pushing up and there could have been a handful of goals with Glasspoole and Shaw coming close.

Piper went on and with some great passing saw Glasspoole slot the ball over for Gale to slam home. Eales at the back was unbeatable and a fine solo effort from Hammond sealed the game.
