CALLINGTON Community College will be running a free football coaching session for girls aged 13 to 16 in the Callington area in the New Year.

The scheme is a joint initiative by StreetGames and the Cornwall Sports Partnership.

Kicking off at 9am on the January 9 the two hour sessions will run for six weeks until February 13. The sessions are an opportunity for girls to learn football for the first time, or to improve their existing skills.

Rob Harrison, the coaching development manager at the Cornwall Sports Partnership said that the 'sessions will include a lot of fun with skill elements and games delivered by highly qualified coaches.

He said: 'We can guarantee that all the girls who take part will not only have a great time but will also leave the sessions at the end of the six weeks being able to give the boys a run for their money on a football pitch!'
