A ONE-DAY event held in Tavistock Pannier Market last week was deemed a huge success by its organisers. The 'Getting the Most out of Life' event organised by the LinkAge Plus project saw more than 200 people visit the 40 plus stalls last Monday. LinkAge Plus in Devon is one of eight pilots in England funded by the Department for Work and Pensions and was created to help people over 50 get the most out of life. During the day there was an array of advice and information stalls for the over 50 population, including tables by the sensory bus, Age Concern, Devon Pound, Care and Repair, WI, The Ramblers, 5 X 30, and Walk and Talk. The event was co-hosted by Tavistock Area Support Services (TASS). Deborah Dreyer from LinkAge Plus said: 'The aim was to get all professionals together so the general public can find out for themselves what is out there. 'It was a really fantastic, positive day. 'I would just like to say how helpful TASS were — without Andy Lyle and his team of volunteers it wouldn't have been nearly as successful as what is was. 'And also to the market staff who were absolutely fantastic and so helpful.'
