LOCAL bands are being given the chance to shine at a major music festival planned for Okehampton over Whitsun weekend to help an economy hit severely by the foot and mouth crisis.
Bands are being asked to send their demo tapes to the Okehampton Times office, The Carlton Centre, St James Street, Okehampton, EX20 1DW by April 20.
The three-day festival in Simmons Park is being organised by newly formed charity 'First Aid' in a bid to attract visitors back to the area, raise money for crisis-hit businesses and raise the spirits of local people.
