TAMAR and Tavy Gig club will be holding their second regatta at Weir Quay on Saturday, August 27, following the very successful event last year.
Julie Rendle, a spokesperson for the club, said: 'The first race is at 2pm and everyone is welcome to come and find out what gig rowing is all about, cheer on your local teams and spend the afternoon at this beautiful location on the river.
'The main race of the day is the Great Tamar Gig Race which is a six mile handicapped pursuit race from Weir Quay to The Brunel Bridge at Saltash and back. Other events include racing for juniors and vets as well as a fun "Barbarian race" where anything can happen.'
There will be a barbecue running all afternoon as well as a cake stall and other refreshments and the club look forward to welcoming visitors.
