IT WOULD appear from comments made to some of our Lions Club members that there is confusion regarding the use of vehicles in this year?s Carnival Parade. It is true that due to logistical reasons, there will not be any of the usual large articulated lorries taking part but that is not to say that any other lorries or vehicles with trailers cannot be used. We would encourage the groups which have used these large vehicles in the past to contact other people such as builders, farmers and smaller haulage companies who may have vehicles or trailers to see if they can assist. We realise that because of this, there may be more walking entries and for this reason there will now be three walking classes, one for groups of no more than six, the second for groups of more than six and the third for any number accompanied by some form of vehicle. An entry form will be appearing in the Times later this month but if anybody has any queries, they can contact the parade organiser Lion Roger Lethbridge on 01822 613794. There also seems to have been some confusion over the dates of this year?s Carnival Week. Carnival Day is by tradition the third Saturday in July but because this year, July 1 is a Sunday, it does means that the third Saturday is very late in the month compared to last year. So don?t forget that this year?s parade, the theme for which is Music, is on Saturday July 21 and that Carnival Week starts on Saturday July 14 with Jazz at Harford Bridge.
