COUNCILLOR Christine Marsh has urged Okehampton Town Council to start thinking about putting away some funds in preparation for marking the 400th anniversary of the granting of the town's charter in 2023.
Mrs Marsh told members of the parks committee last week: 'Although it is in 13 years' time, I think members should think about building up a pot of money to celebrate the 400 years since the town was granted its charter.
'I have been to Bovey Tracey where they have had a similar event and their celebrations went on for a whole week.'
The committee agreed to put the suggestion on its next agenda.
