SPORTS clubs and groups are being invited to take part in the 2013 Okehampton Sports and Fitness Festival, which promises to be the best yet.
The festival run by OCRA has a huge range of have-a-go sessions and competitions running from July 6 to July 14.
The main 'Sporting Sunday', where Simmons Park becomes bustling with sporting activities and fun, takes place on Sunday July 7.
Working with local clubs, instructors and facilities, OCRA is working hard to create a diverse programme for children, young people and adults alike.
Stuart Lord from OCRA said: 'The Okehampton Sports and Fitness Festival 2012 was a fantastic spectacle that also incorporated the Devon Games to Inspire and the primary school Olympic celebrations.
'It attracted over 5,000 participants in over 40 different sports and activities.
'The festival attracts children, young people and adults both locally and from all over Devon in a range of have-a-go sessions, competitions, workshops, challenges, therapies and treatments, and special offers. We have a fantastic programme emerging for 2013.
'The festival is a great way to promote what you do, try new things and engage with new people. Clubs and sports organisers should not hesitate to contact OCRA with any ideas if they would like to be involved.'
2012 was a particularly special year for the festival.
The week's activities kicked off with the Devon Games to Inspire.
A prestigious event in the county sporting calendar, the games brought over 1,200 youngsters aged eight to 16 from across Devon to compete against each other and win points for their region.
School children from across the area enjoyed a week of sports thanks to the 'Primary School Olympics'. All eleven primary schools of the Okehampton Learning Community united to celebrate sport with a week of sport, art, Paralympic awareness sessions, team building and music.
