ANYONE interested in becoming an allotment plot holder in Tavistock is invited to add their name to the waiting list. The Butcher Park Allotment Association was formed eight years ago, when the running of the allotments was handed over by the town council. The committee is elected annually by the plot holders. The allotment site is on the north side of town, with 62 plots of various sizes. The age of allotment holders varies from 14 to over 80 and for those just starting on gardening, various tiems and facilities are provided on site. The association is currently trying to improve access to the site to allow for disabled use. No poultry, animals and bees are allowed, but natural and organic growing is strongly promoted.
