THE latest programmes of walks in the Tamar Valley, aimed at those who are looking to improve their health and meet new people, are available now to pick up from local outlets or to view online.

Three different weekly walks take place in the Tamar Valley area every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday morning and all are free.

Walk and Talk in Saltash meets every Monday morning. The summer programme includes walks around Trematon, Antony Passage and Cargreen, as well as Seaton Valley, St Germans and new for 2016, Plym Valley.

Walk and Talk in the Tamar Valley on Wednesday mornings explores Luckett, Cadsonbury, the Bere Peninsula plus new walks around Caradon Hill via Minions and the Tavistock Railway and canal.

Walking For Health takes place every Thursday morning and offers a series of easier walks varying from 30 to 90 minute strolls. On each walk there will be two fully-trained walk leaders, giving all the support and encouragement needed if you are just starting out or getting back into shape after an illness or operation. Most walks begin at the Tamar Valley Centre at Drakewalls.

New this summer are slightly longer walks, including a walk through Cotehele woods and a chance to have a tour of the Harrowbarrow and Metherell Community Orchard.

The monthly themed walks, where walkers will learn more about certain aspects of the local area, will also continue. There will be a Drakewalls to Calstock walk on Thursday, September 8, looking out for batty features in the landscape.
