TAVISTOCK Rotary Club welcomed its first lady president last week when Dr Geri Parlby took over the reins from former president Wally Lake.

Art historian and lecturer Geri has been a member of the Rotary Club of Tavistock for the past five years and is looking forward to a busy year: 'Tavistock Rotary Club has always had a very active presence within the town and we have lots of exciting projects planned for 2010/2011.

'My chosen charity for the year will be Tavistock Area Support Services alongside the Tavistock Memory Café which Rotary has supported since it was first set up four years ago.

'We are always on the look out for inspired and enthusiastic men and women to join our club and would love to hear from anyone interested in joining us and making a real difference to their community.'
