STAFF at Tavistock Hospital were treated to a fantastic surprise last week, when they were offered free tickets to see superstar George Michael perform at Plymouth?s Home Park stadium. The singer?s production team rang the hospital to see if any members of staff would be interested in attending the city concert last Tuesday. Health care assistant Melanie Statton said: ?We thought it was a hoax phone call to start with, we thought it was too good to be true! Melanie said around 20 members of the staff went to the concert from all departments within the hospital, and enjoyed a ?fantastic? performance during a well organised night of entertainment. Melanie said: ?Not only was it free, we were right in front of the stage, we had the best seats in the stadium. It was a brilliant night ? words just can?t describe it. ?Working for the NHS can sometimes be tough but we are lucky at Tavistock as we have a very loyal, dedicated team of staff ? and to be appreciated and rewarded in this way was very generous and heart-warming. ?George has always supported and praised all hospital staff ? we could never thank him enough for a wonderful evening.?
