MORE than 100 candle lanterns will light the garden at Andrew?s Close, Belstone when it opens on two evenings for the National Garden Scheme.
This is the 33rd year the garden has opened for the scheme, and as well as the usual Sunday afternoons it will be open this Friday and Saturday, July 23 and 24. The lanterns, against a backdrop of Cosdon Beacon, will provide a magical setting from which to enjoy the wine and cheese provided.
The evening openings will provide an opportunity to see this garden from a different perspective ? from the daylight through to dusk ? in a relaxed and convivial atmosphere.
A large proportion of the money collected via the National Gardens Scheme goes to nursing and cancer charities, with the rest going to gardeners? charities and the National Trust.
The garden is open from 7 to10pm and entrance is £3, to include a glass of wine and plate of cheese and biscuits. It is situated in Skaigh Lane, Belstone. Parking is restricted but cars may be left on the nearby common.
