A GROUP of keen gardeners in Bridestowe have come together to form the new Bridestowe Garden Club, which holds its inaugural meeting next week.
The group has lined up an excellent speaker to start them off, Mr Barry Starling, who will give a talk on 'Rhododendrons and their Relations.'
There will also be a seed swapping session, so why not bring along those unwanted packets of seeds you are never going to use, or those half-used packets — someone else is sure to be delighted to have them.
The meeting takes place next Thursday, November 13, in the Methodist Church Hall, Bridestowe, at 7.30pm. There will be coffee, a raffle and a chance to exchange gardening ideas.
As the group is new, they are keen to hear ideas and suggestions of what the club might do and what sort of talks and demonstrations to offer.
The current plan is to meet monthly from September to June (excluding December) and to have a couple of outings to impressive gardens during the year.
Subscriptions will be modest, the entrance fee for next week's meeting will be refundable to those who join on the night.
Above all, it was felt the club should be open to anyone interested in gardening whether they do it on 10 acres or in a window box or just their heads.
If you are unable to come to the inaugural meeting but would like to join and be kept informed please ring Jenny Reynolds on 01837 861678 or Ted Young on 01837 861545.
