WEST Devon-based charity CHICKS has received a large donation of £7,100 from a couple in Chagford. Ray and Susan Miles visited CHICKS (Country Holidays for Inner City Kids) to hand over the cheque as the proceeds of a Garden Opera held in the stunning grounds of their Devon home this summer. They hosted a production of Rossini?s Cinderella, which was organised to raise funds for a number of West Country charities and was a fantastic success. The donation will go towards providing many more underprivileged children with a much needed break in the countryside this year. Ray (pictured left) grew up in inner city London and is now chief executive of the large container shipping company CP Ships. He decided to choose CHICKS as one of the charities to benefit from the Garden Opera as he instantly thought it was a fantastic cause and one he wholeheartedly wanted to support, particularly because of his inner city origins. David Wynn Jones, manager of Chicks, said: ?We were delighted to be chosen to benefit from the fabulous evening that Ray and Susan organised. We want to thank them for their support and everyone else who made the evening such a success.?
