George Gillin Trophy quarter final

Mount Gould 2

Ordulph Arms 3

ORDULPH produced one of their greatest performances to inflict premier league side Mount Gould's first defeat of the season and progressed to the semi-final.

Ordulph played against the strong wind in the first half as the hosts set out to put pressure on the visitors from the outset.

In an even and well contested match both teams had good possession of the ball in the first half, though neither keeper was forced into making any serious saves.

On the stroke of half time Mount Gould were awarded a penalty as Matt Dudley was adjudged to have pulled back the attacker in the box.

Wayne Powney converted for the home side.

Ordulph responded in the best possible way as Ben Stephen's expertly delivered free kick was glanced in at the near post by James Aggis and the sides went in level at half time.

In the second half with the wind in their favour Ordulph began to put Mount Gould on the back foot.

Their midfield of Phillpotts, Aggis and Hoskin were dominating and with Krotke and Gliddon attacking the wings with venom they appeared to be in control.

Seb Krotke scored the second goal when he superbly lobbed the keeper from the edge of the box to put the visitors in front.

The Ordulph's back four of Moloney, Gaden, Payne and Dudley were defending superbly and the host's hard work was rewarded when the hard chasing Ben Stephens drilled home the third from the edge of the box.

From the re-start, Sean Moloney was forced into making a superb save down to his left as Mount Gold refused to throw in the towel, and with a little over five minutes remaining they pulled a goal back through Ashley Wyatt.
