YELVERTON Rotary Club recently celebrated the 25th year of its chartership with a gala dinner.

Club president Pamela Law welcomed members, past members and guests to the Moorland Garden Hotel for a gala dinner to celebrate the occasion, which took place at the same hotel as the inaugural event on June 6, 1990. Many founder members were in attendance, including the club's first president Roy Crispin, from Yelverton.

Entertainment on the night was a thrilling murder mystery event 'Murder at the Anniversary' produced by the Moonstone Theatre Company. The event was exceptionally well acted, was mind searching, but did not prove too difficult for several sharp-minded Rotarians who quickly resolved the mystery to catch the killer.

The highlight of the evening was the award of two Paul Harris Fellowships to Rotarians David Keeling and Paul Williams.

Paul Percy Harris founded Rotary International in 1905, a service organisation that currently has more than a million members worldwide. The special award is given in his name for 'exceptional service to Rotary and society'.

A grand draw on the night raised more than £350 to be divided between the Tavistock Stroke Club and Jeremiah's Journey.
