A DRAFT document detailing future sites for housing in Tavistock will be discussed at a special meeting of West Devon Borough Council next Tuesday (January 20) to which the public can attend.

Following a consultation in December, three sites have been chosen from the eight that were initially included in 'Our Plan', which is a blueprint for the provision of housing, jobs, infrastructure and community needs up to 2031.

The proposed new housing allocations are land at Mount Kelly, Brook Farm and New Launceston Road which will, in total, provide 150 new homes.

These will be in addition to the 750-home extension to Monksmead, off Callington Road, which has been allocated in the 2011 Core Strategy.

The sites that have been omitted are at Green Lane, St Andrew's, Anderton Lane, Callington Road and the Cattle Market.

Councillors will be asked to approve the draft Our Plan document which also includes the expansion of employment land and opportunities at Lifton Strawberry Fields and Yelverton Business Park. This document will then go out for a six week public consultation during February and March.

Members will also be asked to approve delegated authority for the strategic planning manager to make minor amendments to the plan following the consultation process but any major amendments will be brought back to members for formal approval.

The special council meeting will take place at the borough council's offices at Kilworthy Park, Tavistock, starting at 11.30am.
